Johanna Schiavoni Is Selected as One of the “Top 25” Women Attorneys and “Top 50” Attorneys in San Diego

In April 2018, Super Lawyers announced its “Top Attorney” lists in San Diego.  Johanna Schiavoni was selected as one of San Diego’s “Top 25” women attorneys, and one of the “Top 50” attorneys overall (one of only 8 women on that list).  “Super Lawyers” evaluates attorneys based on their professional expertise, peer evaluations, and independent research.  Selection for the “Top Attorney” lists is based on the overall scores individual attorneys receive in the evaluation process.

Johanna is incredibly proud to be included among these groups of talented lawyers, and to continue to provide excellent service to her clients.

Johanna Schiavoni Is Appointed to the Board of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority

After being nominated by San Diego’s Mayor Kevin Faulconer, Johanna Schiavoni was unanimously confirmed by the San Diego City Council to a position on the nine-member board overseeing the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.  The Authority is an independent agency that manages the day-to-day operations of the San Diego International Airport and addresses the region’s long-term air transportation needs.

Schiavoni understands the importance of that role in the region, and notes that she is “proud to help guide the stewardship of a critical regional asset and economic engine like San Diego’s International Airport.”

Johanna Schiavoni Is Re-Appointed to San Diego’s Balboa Park Committee

Johanna Schiavoni was re-appointed to a third two-year term on the City of San Diego’s Balboa Park Committee representing Council District 3 (North Park).  The position requires nomination by San Diego’s Mayor and confirmation by the City Council.  The Balboa Park Committee meets monthly, and advises the City’s Park and Recreation Board, Mayor, City Council, and City Manager on policy issues relating to the acquisition, development, maintenance and operation of Balboa Park.  As a long-time North Park resident, Johanna is a frequent visitor to the park and patron of the numerous nonprofit and artistic institutions active there.  She is proud to play a role in advising the City’s leaders and representing the community’s interests in preserving this crown-jewel park for San Diegans for generations to come.  https://www.sandiego.gov/city-clerk/boards-commissions/balboapark

For the Third Year in a Row, Johanna Schiavoni Is Recognized as an Appellate Litigation “Super Lawyer”

For the third time in as many years, Johanna Schiavoni has been selected for inclusion in the San Diego “Super Lawyers” list in the Appellate Litigation category.  This competitive honor, reserved for the top 5% of practitioners in any practice area, is awarded based upon merit selection criteria in addition to review by peer attorneys.  The official “Super Lawyers” list will be published in January 2017.

Johanna again has been recognized as one of San Diego’s top appellate attorneys, with her selection to the San Diego “Super Lawyers” list for 2016. Only 5% of attorneys are recognized with this honor, and only after a rigorous selection process that identifies the area’s top attorneys. The issue of San Diego Super Lawyers will be published in January 2016.

Johanna Schiavoni Receives 2014 “Community Service” Award from the San Diego County Bar Association

Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 4.18.54 PMJohanna Schiavoni was selected as the 2014 recipient of the San Diego County Bar Association’s “Community Service” award. The award recognizes “outstanding service to the needs of the community.” Johanna was recognized for her service to a number of organizations supporting the advancement of women and girls, leadership development and the performing arts. Johanna is only the 30th recipient to be recognized with this honor since its inception in 1985.

At the April 30, 2014 award ceremony, addressing the attendees including attorneys, judges and community members, Johanna thanked her family and particularly her dad Michael Schiavoni (who joined her for the award ceremony) for setting an example of community service. She also thanked the leaders of organizations she has been involved with, including the La Jolla Music Society, Women Give San Diego, Run Women Run, the San Diego Leadership Alliance and Lawyers Club of San Diego. Finally, she noted taking inspiration from the remarks of Margaret Mead, who said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
